We’ve been around the equipment block

Brent McKillip has been around farm machinery dealerships most of his life. He got his start as a parts person at Plevna Implement, an Agco dealership in Kokomo, Indiana owned by his aunt and uncle. In 2005 he started in sales at McKillip Equipment, a John Deere dealership in Wabash, Indiana owned by his father Craig and 4 other members of the McKillip family. In 2007 the McKillips sold the dealership to Troxel Equipment and Brent continued to work at the dealership until November of 2011.

In December of 2011 Brent started a new position as salesman at Pefley's Farm Equipment in Lagro, Indiana. In April 2018, Pefley's became a new Kubota dealership and scaled back on used machinery. Brent saw the need in this area for a used equipment dealership, and a place for people to sell their excess equipment, so he started McKillip Machinery, established on 4 acres on the north side of US 24 in Wabash that included a 16 x 24 cabin for an office. McKillip Machinery started off and rolling; in the first two days six pieces came rolling in, and by the end of the first 60 days there were 17 gravity wagons and 38 total pieces sitting on the lot. The wagons have always been a running joke at McKillip’s; when one rolls in, three more will come! We have had our highs and lows, and have had great opportunities to grow in less than 4 years.

Brent has no hesitation to say that it was his wife Keisha’s idea, but they both know that it was ultimately the fruit of much thought, discussion, and prayer. Keishia, a stay at home mom with so many more things she wanted to do, knew her husband‘s happiness found in equipment sales was more important. So she put everything aside and sat down and came up with McKillip Machinery as the name. By the end of the second year in business, Brent and Keishia were there every day running the office and managing equipment. It quickly became busy, and by the beginning of the third year, they knew it was time to build a new office and grow the business. Once the opportunity came along, they purchased the building up the road. Today, with 9 acres of farm equipment and a fully-equipped building, Brent and Keisha are proud and humbled at where the journey has brought them.

We have had great opportunities to grow in less than 4 years and we are very fortunate to have the support of our customers, family, and friends. Our hope is to be around for many years to come, serving our community and the entire northern Indiana agricultural community.
